Bushfield Road Infant School

Coronavirus update – school closure to most pupils

We are sure you will be aware of the situation in relation to the government’s instruction to close schools nationally to almost all children after this Friday 20th March until further notice.

As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in front line services) and children with certain needs.

We are waiting for the government to publish more information on what this means, but it would help us in the meantime if you think your child may fall into one of these categories. Please complete and return the attached form and return to the school office by tomorrow, Friday 20th March so we are certain who this will apply to.

All other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday 23rd March onwards.

We will re-open fully as soon as we are advised to do so by the government and we will let you know when this is via text and the school website www.bushfieldinfants.co.uk

We are mindful of the impact this will have on families and also on the education of your children. For this reason, staff have been working hard to produce a ‘Learning Pack’ for every pupil containing a range of work tasks and activities to complete whilst at home and also ideas and suggestions to keep children busy.

There will be a recommended list of websites and free online activities in addition to the packs and also the school website which has information to support your child with reading and phonics.

This is as much as we know right now and we appreciate your continued patience and support as we deal with this ever-changing situation. The health, well-being and education of our school community continues to be a priority and we will continue to keep in touch with any further updates as the situation develops.

CANCELLATIONS

In order to reduce risks for both children and staff, we will be cancelling all planned activities and meetings, which we may be able to arrange at a future time. Please accept our apologies for these cancellations.
